Thanks Carl Zeiss – Now I can’t stand my regular lenses
In late August I (Adam) was able to learn more and see a live demonstration of the Carl Zeiss i.Profiler Plus. This unit is an all-in-one ocular wavefront aberrometer, ATLAS corneal topographer and auto-refractor. My interest was mostly in the ocular wavefront Aberrometry. Our Carl Zeiss representative had me intrigued by something they called an i.Scription which combines my subjective refraction with ocular wavefront Aberrometry data, creating a customized prescription to 1/100th of a diopter. The promise: better night vision as well as improved color and contrast perception. The results: extremely impressive. I made 2 pairs of i.Scription lenses. In 1 pair we digital surfaced a standard single vision design with the 1/100th diopter i.Scription and the other pair I made an Essilor SV 360 with the same i.Scription. Both pairs of lenses have shown a dramatic improvement during low-light and no-light situations to the degree that I find my non-i.Scription eyewear to be annoying in these conditions. I do notice a slightly (and I mean very slight) loss in accommodation during daylight and indoor use, but the improvement at night is well worth it. If you are looking for a solution that actually solves night vision issues – this is it! Cherry Optical, Inc is able to produce all Carl Zeiss Vision freeform designs on-site. The i.Scription Rx can be used on all Zeiss freeform designs and many non-Zeiss freeform designs and nearly all non-freeform products. Contact Adam at 920-469-2559 or adamcherry@cherryopticalinc.com to learn more about the i.Profiler, i.Scription and Zeiss freeform designs.
